THE ROAD TO SAFECO

Baron shortstop Jay Skilton today was out of this world today.   Jay had an honor filled week. He was named to the All Area Team by the Tacoma News Tribune. Then for the third consecutive year he was named as the first team All League Shortstop of the Narrows League.   Today in the playoffs at Kent Memorial Park he had a day that will be talked about for quite awhile.   Skilton had an incredible day at the plate going five for ten with two doubles, three towering home runs, nine RBIs, five runs scored, and a stolen base.   The crowd was electrified by his awesome offensive display in perhaps the biggest games of his life.   Stadium beat number one seed Woodinville 19-12 in the first game of the loser out series.    Unfortunately, he and his teammates fell short of their quest for Safeco by losing to the SPSL Tahoma H.S. Bears 3-2.

Baron catcher David Neil and the Graham-Kapowsin Eagles fell to Richland H.S. 5-2.   Neil collected three hits in the losing effort.

Baron pitcher Colton Brown  shutout  East Side Catholic at Bannerwood Park.   Colton threw five innings while striking out four, walking none, and surrendered only two hits.   He also went two for three at the plate.   The victory was Brown's tenth of the season.   His next start will be at Safeco field.

At Wheeler field in Centralia, Baron outfielder Sean Montplaisir and the Bonney Lake Panthers also advanced to Safeco also by defeating Timberline 6-0, and Capital 6-1.   Sean collected three hits, scored twice, and drove in two.

Good luck Colton and Sean we will be watching.

I was lucky enough to watch Stadium High Schools two games yesterday. Jay was amazing! It was definately a treat to watch. They all played so well it was unfortunate they fell short of Safeco and the State finals, But I have no doubt that they will be there next season. Hopefully thet can hold their heads high and realize how much they accomplished this season. They truelly played like a "family". Congratulations to all the Baron players who represented their Communities and High Schools so well this season. Even though I don't have a child on the team I am your #1 fan and look forward to watching all of you play for the Barons again this year, and look forward to meeting all the new players and parents. Go Barons!!
