BARONS WIN SECOND GAME OF TOURNAMENT

The Barons won their second game of the Father's day tournament by defeating Reality Sports 7-6.   The game ended on a close play at the plate.   Anthony McCarthy pick up his second win of the season and Alex Mahler earned the save.   The Baron defense was unusually shaky causing the pitches (McCarthy, Dzingle, Kain, and Mahler) extra work.   The offense featured a towering homerun by Tony Rossetto to left center field.   Logan Bushnell continued his hot hitting by hitting a single and a laser shot homer to straight away centerfield that was described by Mitchy the Kid as a missile.   Michael O'Bryant also laced a pair of singles.   The Barons face the Federal Way Wildcats in game three of the tournament.   Colton Brown will take the mound.

SCHUMACHER CONTINUES HIS HOT HITTING IN 4-1 WIN

The Barons won again tonight improving their league record to seven wins and one loss.   Jake Schumacher continued his hot hitting by driving in runs with an RBI single and a solo homerun.   Brown, and Rossetto also collect RBIs in the victory; Bushnell doubled and made a diving catch in center. Seth Timpke pitched four solid innings before leaving the game tied at one.   Anthony McCarthy then pitched his first inning of the year.   He picked up his first win of the year by throwing a scoreless inning against a young but talented Federal Way Buzz team.   Alex Mahler then threw his most impressive inning of the year.   He continues to rehab from surgery to his left shoulder.   His velocity and command are returning.   It is encouraging watching him battle back from his injury.   Keep up the good work Alex.   Colton Brown brought two hitters to their knees with nasty curve balls in the seventh to pick up the save.   The Barons open the Fathers Day tournament Thursday against the South Hill Stingers at Emerald Ridge HS.   First pitch will be thrown at 6:00 pm.

ELLIOTT DOMINANT ONCE AGAIN

The Barons improved to six wins and one loss today by defeating the North Corner Tribe 3-1.   Starting pitcher Alec Elliott continued his dominance of opposing bats.   He collected his fourth win of the 2008 season by striking out six over five innings.   The lone run he surrendered was unearned.   Illness, graduations, and the All State Team Showcase once again limited the Barons lineup.   Today the lineup featured a total of nine players four of which were pitchers.   The outfield was patrolled by pitchers Timpke, Mahler, and Tannay (pictured). Nonetheless, they managed to manufacture a win behind the strong pitching of Elliott, and the defensive wizardry of Jake Schumacher and Michael Sumi.   Schumacher collect two hits and an RBI, A.J. Easterbrook also pitched in with his second homerun of the season.   Tony Rossetto drove in a crucial run in the seventh with a shot up the middle.   Barron Tannay earned the save with his two strong innings of work.   He did not allow a Tribe runner to reach base.   On a side note Alec Elliott picked up his first hit since the 2006 season.

BASEBALL IS A FUNNY GAME

The Barons played two this weekend and walked away with a loss to the Avalanche and a win against Laces.  The weekend saw the team decimated by Senior Proms and injuries.  Saturday the Puyallup Avalanche soundly beat them. Despite scoring ten runs, walks by the pitching staff, and shoddy defense proved to be their undoing in the 16-10 loss.  Justin Lee collected three hits in the losing effort.   Today the Barons traveled to Everett to square off against Laces.  The Barons arrived at the yard with eight position players and two pitchers.  Coach James Cassill pieced together a line-up that managed to catch the ball more often than not and score ten runs.  Starting pitcher ALec Elliott continued his winning ways by collecting his third win.  Alec allowed two unearned runs.  He also got to hit for the first time in three seasons.  His first at bat he struck out and said, "I can see the ball but I just can't seem to hit it."  He managed to redeem himself later with a deep fly ball, which was unfortunately caught.  Nonetheless watching him hit was worth the hour-long trip.  Offensive standouts for the day were Tony Rossetto who had a single, double, and a triple.  Aaron Knapp hit two long doubles and John Boire continued to swing a hot stick.  John had two hits.    The Barons are off until Wednesday night when they play the Wildcats at Heritage Park.  The entire team should be present.  The next obstacle will be graduation cermonies and parties.
