The Mariners might have found their next utility infielder in the Rule 5 Draft -- Reegie Corona.
A blockbuster, 12-player, three-team swap Wednesday night landed the Mariners seven players, including center fielder Franklin Gutierrez from the Indians, but it cost Seattle right-handed closer J.J. Putz, who was traded to the Mets.
The timing could be a little better for a first-time Major League manager, but you won't hear Mariners skipper Don Wakamatsu complaining about the unique challenge he faces during Spring Training.
