Cowtown Rodeo

Well I can't believe that I have never heard of the Cowtown Rodeo.  I mean for heaven sakes I grew up on a horse farm and learned to ride when I was 3 years old.  And we live so close to New Jersey too. Gosh where have I been!

A little history on the rodeo...this is the 52nd anniversary season for the rodeo....hundreds of professional cowgirls and cowboys from across the nation are part of the Cowtown Rodeo....the events include bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, bull riding, calf roping, steer wrestling, girl barrel racing and team roping. They perform every Saturday night from May-September.  There is also a Farmer's Market prior to the rodeo.

Our friends Kathy, Henry, Roy and Doreen from Delaware invited us to go with them.  After a yummy cook out at Kathy & Henry's house, we headed across the bridge to New Jersey.  A short drive and we were there.  How could you miss the huge cowboy that greets you as you pull into the parking lot.  We didn't get there in time for the flea market but I hear you can find some real goodies there...maybe next time.  The admission was only $15.00 p/p...I thought that was very reasonable.  Kids 12 and under are $10.00.   And oh yeah free parking too. Kids can even get their picture taken sitting on a bull!  They sell all kinds of western wear and do sell some food and drinks.  But no alcohol is sold.  You can bring in your own small cooler with beer if you choose too.

Wow were there tons of cows and horses and yeah cute cowboys everywhere! The kids in the crowd seemed to really enjoy it...and they all looked so darn cute in their cowboy hats and cowboy boots. Michael and I are definately going to bring Mack and Marissa back to see the rodeo.  It was a very fun, entertaining way to spend a Saturday night.

My favorite event was the girl barrel racing...damn those girls can ride and I don't know how they stay on their saddles when they fly around those barrels.  The bull riding was pretty cool too...a couple of times we thought the bulls weren't going to stop and were going to come right over the fence! Mean looking suckers I tell ya'!

Pics are added to our gallery. HERE  I didn't take too many cause I was having so much fun that after awhile I just put the camera away and sat back to enjoy the show. We snacked on popcorn and peanuts too.  I can't wait to take the kids!
