How Do I Get There?

To Navigate to Email/Mobile

  • Press Settings on the Journal Title bar.
  • Click the Email/Mobile link.
Tips and How To's

Step One: Choose a Secret "Mail To" Email Address.

  1. Press Settings on the Journal Title bar.
  2. Click the Email/Mobile link.
  3. Type a Secret "Mail to" Address in the text box next to the name of your Journal.
  4. From the Publish to: drop-down box, select Blog or Gallery to determine the upload location of the files sent to your journal.
  5. Select the Activate checkbox to turn on the remote publishing function.
  6. Select the checkbox next to "Send Confirmation..." to receive a message confirming that your file has been uploaded to your Journal.
  7. Press Save. Your Email/Mobile settings will be saved and you are now ready to send media files to your Journal from your mobile phone.

Tip:    While your Secret "Mail to" Address must be between 6 to 10 characters, some mobile phones limit the number of characters allowed for email address entries in cell phone address books. Therefore, we suggest choosing a six-character word for your "Mail to" address.
Tip:    Text files cannot be uploaded to your Gallery. The Gallery will only accept audio, video or picture files. If you choose Gallery as your upload location, all text files will be published in your Journal's Blog.

Step Two: Program your Mobile Phone.

  1. In the address book on your Mobile Phone, enter the complete Secret "Mail To" email address you just created in your Journal. Example: MyJournal.secret@betajournal.comcast.net.
  2. Choose a picture, video or sound file or type a text message.
  3. Send the file. The file will appear in your Journal in the location you chose on the Email/Mobile Settings page.
Tip:    Since long email addresses are cumbersome to enter into mobile phones, don't forget to save yours! This way it will always be in your mobile phone.
Tip:    For more detailed info on how to use your mobile phone address book, please see the Manufacturers User Manual for your mobile phone or check your cellular service provider's website at:   www.verizon.com,   www.cingular.com, www.sprint.com, or www.virginmobile.com

Step Three: Sending from your Personal Email Inbox.

  1. From your personal email account, type the entire Secret "Mail To" email address in the To: field.
  2. Attach video, audio or picture files to the mail message. (You can attach several files, as Journal will upload multiple files at one time).
  3. Type the text to be uploaded to your Journal.
  4. Press Send. The files will appear in your Journal in the location you chose on the Email/Mobile Settings page.

Troubleshooting Email/Mobile Publishing

If the files you send don't show up:

  • Did you Check the Activate Box next to your Secret "Mail to" address? If this box is not checked, the Email/Mobile function will not work.
  • Double-check that you entered the complete Secret "Mail to" address correctly. If there are any differences between the address on your Journal Email/Mobile Settings page, and what is entered in your cell phone or your email message, the files you send will not upload to your Journal.
  • Make certain you are sending only from a Verizon, Cingular, Sprint or Virgin Mobile phone, otherwise the files you send may not upload properly.
